Premier Colored

The Main Fancy Color Diamond Mines

If you are looking for some exclusive jewelry for a special event then you must include diamonds in the choice. If you are looking for something particularly unique and then perhaps you should consider looking at natural fancy color diamonds instead of the traditional colorless diamond.

You can get diamonds in various colors right from pink to green. Set in the correct metal, these radiant stones are unquestionably spectacular and stylish. Some of these types of stones will be very easily available at the top jewelers, although some can be extremely scarce.

The entire world yields diamonds worth roughly USD 9 billion yearly, and nearly 1 / 2 of the production of these diamonds comes from the African region. The remaining half comes from countries such as Australia, Canada, as well as India.

The various mines that provide fancy colored diamonds:

Argyle diamond mine – Australia

The famous Argyle mine in Australia is situated in the Kimberly region. This mine produces most of the colored diamonds available and it is this mine that produces several of the rarest natural colored diamonds which include blue and cognac diamonds. The owners of this mine are the Rio Tinto Group and the mine is enormous and covers 110 acres. Rare diamond colors such as pink red and purple are also produced by this mine.

Zimi Mine (Africa)

This is one more mine that creates fancy colored diamonds, which primarily includes rare yellow diamonds that have a hint of orange in them and olive green diamonds. The mine is found in Sierra Leone, which is a region really popular because of its generation of outstanding diamonds.

Premier Mine (South Africa)

The Premier Mine is situated near Pretoria in South Africa one of the most important mines for producing blue diamonds. These diamonds can be light blue and white with a strong blue fluorescence.

Williamson Mine – Tanzania

The Williamson Mine is located in Tanzania and is controlled by the De Beers mining company. This mine produces pale pink diamonds as well as the regular colorless diamond.

Apart from the mines above there are other mines throughout the world that also produce rare colored diamonds. These can be found in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola and Brazil. Mines in Brazil also produce the very rare red diamond, Angolan mines are famous for yellow-brown diamonds, and mines in the Democratic Republic of Congo produce orange, cognac, grey, olive and yellow diamonds.

Take note that almost all of these mines we’ve spoken about produce white or colorless diamonds in much larger amounts in comparison to the colored diamonds. That isn’t surprising considering that colored stones are extremely rare; and even in the places where they do emerge, they are doing so in very tiny amounts. That is definitely also the main reason why colored diamonds may be more pricey than the ordinary colorless ones. All mines where colored diamonds are produced also produce regular colorless diamonds, and the colorless diamonds are found in much larger quantities than the colored diamonds. This is obviously one of the main reasons that certain colors are much more expensive than others and are highly sought by investors.
